Tricia and Katie Run a Marathon for Haitian Health Foundation Girls' Soccer Program

In September 2007, our friend Callie Kaplan began working in Haiti for the Haitian Health Foundation. Over the past 2 years she has shared many stories about the girl's soccer program she coaches and its importance in raising women's self-esteem and simultaneously providing important health information. Back in January, Tricia and I decided we wanted to support Callie and the girls by running the Chicago Marathon in October for them. Our goal is to raise enough money to sponsor the program for one year--a total of $1,000. If you want more information on the program please click on the "Links" section to the left.
If you are in Chicago come out for the event--Sunday, October 11th.

Thank you for all your support and donations!

About HHF Soccer Program:

"In Haiti, girls don’t play soccer—cultural myths abound about the “dangers” of girls playing this sport; however, many girls are quite interested in the sport, so HHF uses it as an incentive to attend it’s responsible sexuality course. Upon completion of the seminar, girls are taught soccer and helped with shoes, uniform, balls, etc. Tens of thousands of local villagers attend these games to cheer on their community teams. At halftime, HHF staff reiterates health messages over loudspeakers and banners".--from their website
